Position: Registered Nurse (trauma unit experience beneficial )
Salary: ZAR 133.00 per hour, depending on experience. Approximately 150 work hours per month, i.e., R20,000.00 p/m).
OVERVIEW
J oin our client’s team, which is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for older people through exceptional care and support.
Our client, located in Pretoria, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join their team. The successful candidate should ideally have a background in trauma unit nursing, expertise in managing Dementia-related conditions, and a commitment to providing exceptional care to older adults. This role involves a blend of clinical responsibilities, administrative tasks, and active participation in patient advocacy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Care:
Patient Management:
Assess and monitor residents’ health, including those with Dementia-related illnesses.
Implement and oversee prescribed treatment and care plans.
Monitor vital signs, medication reactions, and overall patient well-being.
Provide teaching and counselling to prevent disease and promote health.
Facilitate personal hygiene, nutrition, and comfort for residents.
Ensure preventive measures to avoid pressure ulcers and maintain fluid and electrolyte balance.
Supervise and support the care of dying residents and execute last rights as needed.
Administrative Duties
Communication & Documentation
Answer telephonic inquiries and manage communication regarding resident well-being.
Respond to emails and handle resident care documentation, including hospital transfers.
Maintain and file all necessary records and complete monthly statistics and inventory surveys.
Provide input on protocol, policy, and procedure documentation to the Manager.
Handle the electronic gate control and assist in marketing the facility to visitors.
Coordination & Supervision
Collaborate with the Matron on health care regimens and medication orders.
Ensure effective communication with the Manager regarding resident concerns and emergencies.
Supervise and delegate tasks to nursing team members within the scope of practice.
Participate in in-service training and provide input on staff schedules.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
Registered Nurse with valid SANC registration.
Experience in trauma unit care and expertise in managing Dementia-related illnesses.
Skills & Attributes
Fluency and ability to read and write in Afrikaans and English are essential.
Excellent observation and assessment abilities.
Proficient in computer use and documentation.
Loyal, hardworking, and able to work collaboratively with caregivers.
Ability to prioritise tasks, manage time efficiently, and demonstrate leadership.
